India – Pastor and Son Ambushed in the Jungle

After a worship service, Pastor Nahtiya, his son and other church members were walking home through the jungle when they were suddenly ambushed by thugs throwing stones at them.

Some members were able to break away from the group only to be attacked again by villagers wielding axes, sticks and other tools. Pastor Nahtiya’s 16-year-old son and another believer were struck repeatedly. The police arrived and helped to take the severely injured men to the hospital. When the attackers were questioned, they falsely claimed that Pastor Nahtiya went to their village and threatened to attack them.

Pray that God will bring healing to these believers from their physical injuries as well as from the trauma of the attack. Pray for financial provision for the mounting medical and legal bills. Pray that the attackers and those opposed to the gospel will come to know Jesus and receive salvation.

Ali is a schoolteacher in Centra Asia. He became a Christian recently, and he was excited to share the good news with one of his colleagues. The colleague, however, reported Ali to the school director, who fired Ali immediately.

Nepal – Pray for Sita. She is Kept at Home by Relatives Opposed to Christianity

Sixty-five year old Sita is the only Christian in her family and an active member of the church.

Three years ago, Sita’s son married a woman who was aggressively opposed to Christianity. Under her daughter-in-law’s influence, her family barred her from attending church.

Sometimes Sita was able to slip out of her home to attend a women’s fellowship group. She was given an audio Bible so that she can listen to God’s Word when she is alone at home.

Pray that Sita will continue to grow in her faith and maturity in Christ. Pray that she will be strengthened, refreshed and renewed in her spirit as she faithfully listen to and meditate on God’s Word and spend time in prayer and worship daily.

Pray that her family members will encounter the Lord and receive salvation.

India – Christians’ Family Home Burned Down by Thugs

A Christian family from Lalu village in Madhya Pradesh had their family home burned down in February this year while they were in church. During the worship service, the family’s neighbour ran into the church and told them their house was burning.

The family rushed home immediately but by the time they arrived, the house and all their belongings, including their crops, were totally destroyed. The fire was set by a group of thugs from another village who had read about this family, who became Christians about 15 years ago, and knew their reputation as Christians. And the thugs took the opportunity to harm then while they were at church. Because of this attack, the local church decided to meet only as small house groups rather than as a congregation.

Pray that this family will be recompensed for all that they have lost because of their faith in Christ. Pray that they will receive divine provision for all their needs.

Pray for the Christians in this village – that they will not fear but will continue to trust the Lord in every situation. Pray that they will stay strong and continue to grow in their faith even as they meet in small house groups. Pray that the gospel message will continue to spread and touch many lives in spite of the setback.

China – Pray for three Christians who are detained in an unknown location

The Church of Abundance in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, issued a public letter on 17th October stating that 2 pastors and another believer have been in custody for 60 days. And since then, they have not been heard from.

On 17th August, Pastor Lian Changnian was detained on charges of alleged fraud. He was placed under “residential surveillance” along with Pastor Lian Xuliang and sister Fu Juan. “Residential surveillance” is supposed to be a form of detention in which an individual is confined in their own residence. However, family members of these 3 believers have no idea where these believers are currently being held. Sister Fu’s husband did not even receive an official notice of her arrest.

Pray that the Lord will strengthen these believers and help them to endure their time in detention. Pray that they will continue to hope in the Lord and remain firm in their faith. Pray that they will be released unharmed and be reunited with their loved ones soon. Pray that their family members will be filled with the Lord’s reassuring peace and comfort during this difficult time.
