Indonesia – Family’s Home Burned Down by Villagers

When a woman died unexpectedly, her two sons consulted a witchdoctor to find out why she died. The witchdoctor told her sons that Christians were responsible for her death as they had a magic object which gave them power.

Gabriel and Noni were the only Christians in the village. So, the woman’s two sons visited Gabriel and Noni’s house in the middle of the night in an attempt to find the magic object the witchdoctor spoke about. The two men tried to break into the house. As a result, one of Gabriel and Noni’s sons was hit in the head and had to be taken to hospital. Gabriel and their other children were forced to flee to the police station for their safety. The two men subsequently burned down Gabriel and Noni’s house.

Pray that Gabriel, Noni and their children will be healed from the traumatic experience of being attacked and having their house and belongings burned down. Pray that they will not fear but their faith will grow stronger as they experience the Lord’s divine provision and protection during this time.

Pray that God will provide the funds, resources and emotional support needed for Gabriel and Noni to find a home and rebuild their lives in a new village.

Pakistan – Pray for sisters, Mariam and Sarah

In 2020, two sisters, Mariam, 18, and Sarah, 16, were threatened and beaten after sharing the gospel with a co-worker. The co-worker responded eagerly to the gospel but other co-workers complained about the sisters to their manager. The manager warned them against sharing their faith and together with some other men, they demanded the girls renounce their faith. When the girls refused, one of the men beat up Mariam and then locked up the girls.

Fortunately, the sisters managed to escape and hitchhiked home. However, since then Mariam has suffered poor health and the family struggled financially because of the loss of income.

Pray that Mariam and Sarah will be able to find work elsewhere and the family’s needs will be provided for. Pray that God will anoint and empower them such that whenever they share the gospel, many will believe in the Lord.

Pray that the co-worker who responded to the gospel message will receive salvation and grow in faith.

Laos – Christian Families Pressured to Renounce Christ

During a public gathering on 15th February, ten families were ordered by the authorities to renounce their Christian faith.

When they refused, one of the Christians, a woman named Sri, was singled out and ordered to sign a document stating that she had stopped following Jesus. Sri did not sign the document but an officer wrote down her family members’ names on the document and forged her signature. Sri was told that if she and her family continued to worship Jesus publicly, they would be arrested.

Pray that God will strengthen Sri and other Christians in her village so that they will remain firm in their faith. Pray that they will be able to find ways to gather for worship and to study God’s word.  Pray that other villagers will have the opportunity to hear the gospel and receive salvation in Christ.

Pakistan – Christian Man Arrested and Charged for Alleged Facebook Post

Fansan, a 54-year old Christian from Gujranwala in Punjab Province, was arrested on 16th March because of a comment he allegedly made in a Facebook post in 2019.

According to his wife, Safia, her husband lost his handphone in 2019 but did not report it missing. They suspect someone found the phone and used it to post the comment since there was no password protection to the device and Fansan’s Facebook account automatically logged in. Safia insists that Fansan would never have posted such comments as he regularly warned his two adult children against discussing religion with anyone.

Fansan has multiple health issues and his family is concerned that the lengthy court process could be a strain on his health and the family’s financial situation since he is the sole wage earner. They are also fearful of negative repercussions from their landlord and neighbours when the matter is made public during the trial process.

Pray for divine protection, provision and encouragement for Fansan, Safia and their children as they contend with the charges, imprisonment and other legalities in this matter. Pray that God will especially strengthen Fansan during his time in prison. Pray that he will shine for Jesus and be a blessing to his fellow inmates.
