Indonesia – Church Reopens After 15 Years of Opposition

The Gereja Kristen Indonesia (GKI) Yasmin Church in Bogor, Indonesia has, for the past 15 years, sought to meet for worship. The church was initially approved in 2006 but was rejected by local authorities.

Although the Supreme Court ruled in 2010 that the church could reopen, those who opposed Christianity repeatedly caused much delay, resulting in the church having to relocate to another location.

However, we praise God that the new church building was officially opened on 9th April 2023.

Do continue to pray for churches in Indonesia as many have had to deal with persistent opposition and some were forced to close. One such church was the Simalungun Christian Protestant Church in Cigelam which was forcibly closed in April 2023. Pray that churches in Indonesia will be able to gather for worship and ministry with encountering any interference from opposing villagers or the authorities.
